Herbert Addison, affectionately known as Pastor Herb, is a native Houstonian and a passionate servant-leader dedicated to uplifting his community. His ministry began at Covenant Glen United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served for nine years, followed by three impactful years at St. John’s Downtown. Both congregations served over 3,000 members and were central to his commitment to youth, displaced families, and individuals impacted by incarceration.
Pastor Herb’s journey continued with pastoral and campus ministry roles at Bethlehem UMC, the Texas Southern University Wesley Foundation, and Mt. Vernon UMC. Today, he leads his own nonprofit organization, Call the Place of Love, which focuses on mentoring youth, supporting families in transition, and offering hope to those affected by the criminal justice system.
Pastor Herb’s life is a testament to transformation. Formerly incarcerated for drug-related offenses, he served a seven-year sentence and was released in 2006. Since then, he has devoted his life to reaching those who feel lost, forgotten, or rejected. His message is rooted in God’s grace and the power of redemption.
He is a published author, a gospel recording artist, and has achieved notable success including a #1 spot on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and recognition as an Amazon #1 Bestseller. Academically, Pastor Herb holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Services and a Master of Science in Leadership from Belhaven University. He is currently pursuing further studies in educational leadership and we’ll receive a doctorate.
From a high school dropout and inmate to an accomplished pastor and leader, Pastor Herb exemplifies resilience, purpose, and faith. He has been happily married for 10 years and is the proud father of two sons. His life’s mission is guided by one core belief: love is the most powerful force to draw people closer to God.
